DE200 was formulated to deal with effluent from dairy
Dairy effluent has a specific set of challenges that need to be dealt
with before discharge into the municipal sewer system. Some of these
are:- high BOD/COD values, high fats and grease content, daily plant and
truck wash-down water which contain both caustic and acidic cleaning
products, ammonium from milk amino acids (proteins) and phosphates from

- Butter manufactures whose
effluent originates from both plant cleaning and butter wash waters.
- Milk powder producers whose
concentratorís condensate is often low in pH.
- Ice cream and yogurt
- Breaks down fats, oils and
greases present as curdled particles in the waste.
- Decreases dairy effluent
waste stream BOD, COD and suspended solid values and reduces costly
- Restores the natural biomass
after system upsets caused by caustic and acidic cleaning agents.
- Improves the rate of organic
decomposition in effluent receivers which often have low residence
times before entering the municipal waste system.
- Inhibits anaerobic conditions
and the formation of H2S which is the origin of bad odours
in dairy effluent.
- Removes built up organic
materials from pipes and the walls of collection ponds.
- Improves settling and limits
sludge build-up improving plant efficiency and capacity.
